The Windwood Music Festival presents a series of creative music performance projects by international artists gathering in Airdrie for a two-week chamber music residency. In this residency, musicians explore what it takes to create projects that celebrate sustainability, community, and arts in all its forms. These projects will be presented in public spaces around Airdrie including but not limited to parks, cafes, museums, and farms, and are designed by the participants in order to best present a collaboration between community members or aspects of a community and music. APPLICATION GUIDELINES Festival Dates: Sunday, August 23 - Monday, September 7, 2026 Resident Artists will arrive on Sunday, August 23 and depart on Monday, September 7. The closest airport is Calgary International Airport (YYC). Pick-up to and from the airport will be arranged by WMF. Audition Requirements: • Complete all required (*) fields in the application form • Short video clip introducing yourself and your interest in the Windwood Music Festival • Video recordings of two contrasting solo works and one chamber work uploaded online • Project proposal • CV or Resume • Biography • Repertoire list (solo and chamber works) • Headshot Eligibility: Accepting violin, viola, cello, and piano. This program is geared towards early-career professional musicians. Performing artists with a strong interest in creative concert programming, community engagement, and art as activism are encouraged to apply. Program Fees: All participants receive free room and board, $1,000 CAD in artist compensation, and travel reimbursement up to $300 CAD.
