We are recruiting for the position of Principal Contrabassoon here at the NZSO. Candidates should display the highest level of ability and musicianship to apply. These auditions are only open to those candidates with the right to work in New Zealand for the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra at the time of application. Auditions will be by recorded audition only. CLOSING DATE All audition materials are due by: Tuesday 16 June 2026 APPLY HERE Complete the online application form linked below. Once your application is received, the excerpt pack and Dropbox link for audition submission will be emailed to you by late April 2026. The audition repertoire list is linked below. RECORDING REQUIREMENTS Only recordings that follow the NZSO recording requirements will be accepted (linked below). FURTHER INFORMATION The successful candidate/ s will be invited to play for a trial period with the orchestra. You will be notified of the results by Wednesday 24 June 2026.
